Camelback Village Racquet & Health Club Offers Hi-Tech Fitness

Technology Has Changed Our Lifestyles and Also How We Exercise

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - September 10, 2008) - Camelback Village Racquet & Health Club has found the answer to the technology craze taking adults and children away from physical activity and placing them in front of computer and TV screens. The newest in fitness technology, Sportwall, has been installed into a newly built 'technology fitness room' at Camelback Village to help address the lack of interest and participation in physical activity, especially in the younger generation.

Advances in technology have changed our lifestyles and as a result the country is seeing significant increases in obesity, growing concerns about diabetes, increases in depression, and increases in sensory integration dysfunction disorders such as dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism. Children experiencing obesity are at risk for many health problems such as Type 2 Diabetes, heart disease and hypertension, cancer, osteoarthritis, respiratory problems, depression, and high cholesterol. These health risks can cause such problems as resistance to insulin, increased risk of prostate and uterine cancers, excess weight gain, sleep apnea, and even feelings of failure.

"We recognized the need to get children involved in fitness activities, especially with childhood obesity rates on the rise, and found Sportwall Technology to be perfectly inline with how young people are motivated today," says Carol Nalevanko, President of DMB Sports Clubs. "One of our main objectives at Village Health Clubs is to offer our members the newest in fitness and exercise equipment, and this is definitely the newest and most fun."

The Sportwall uses computer game technology to engage and sustain the user's interest. The Sportwall Programs stimulate the hands, feet, eyes, ears and the vestibular system, stimulating the neurological system. The technology also encourages cognitive decision making under pressure and delivers a cardiovascular workout in a fun, and exciting game format. In addition to the 3 Sportwalls, the Village Club's technology fitness room has 2 Wii systems (1 with Wii Fit), 3 Dance Dance Revolutions and a ping pong table.

The benefits of interactive fitness programs are numerous. In addition to fun physical activity, attracting kids' participation and sustaining their interest with an extensive variety of programs is very important in today's stimulating world. This program enables children to have fun and exercise at the same time.
