Camp Bow Wow Launches the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation Inc.

Camp Bow Wow's Non-Profit Arm Will Raise Funds and Organize Efforts to Aid Dogs Around the World

BOULDER, CO--(Marketwire - September 18, 2007) - The Bow Wow Buddies Foundation Inc., the non-profit arm of Colorado dog day care franchise Camp Bow Wow, launched today with its first board of directors meeting. The foundation aims to help improve the lives of dogs throughout the world.

"Now that Camp Bow Wow has grown into a franchisor of the nation's premiere doggy daycare and overnight camps, the Bow Wow Buddies Foundation is taking its philanthropy worldwide," said Bow Wow Buddies Foundation President and Camp Bow Wow founder and CEO Heidi Flammang. "To date, our Camp Bow Wow dog boarding franchises have found homes for more than 1,000 dogs. With the formation of the Bow Wow Buddies foundation, we expect to ramp up our efforts of finding forever homes for all of the adoptable dogs in need."

The Bow Wow Buddies committee went on a mission to Greece in July to see firsthand the horrible living conditions of the many stray dogs living there.

"In Athens, Patras, Ioannina and Samos we met with animal welfare workers and many sweet dogs in need of safe, loving homes. We came back with 11 dogs; we've found forever families for seven of them, and are working diligently to adopt out the others. We plan to bring more dogs from Greece in the future, and partner with the animal welfare workers we met in their efforts to improve shelters and speed up existing re-homing efforts with groups based in Germany, England and Holland," said Flammang.

"The trip opened our eyes to the need for more humane treatment for dogs and cats in many parts of the world, and we plan to focus our efforts and resources in several areas including animal education programs; increasing the availability of spaying and neutering services in areas of need through veterinary training and supporting the efforts of existing vet groups that organize spay and neuter trips; fostering low-cost spay and neuter clinics; and supporting re-homing efforts wherever we can."

In addition, the Bow Wow Buddies foundation is partnering with Morris Animal Foundation and has committed to contributing $50,000 annually to the Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University in Fort Collins to promote research into curing canine cancer, a disease that kills one in four dogs.
