Can Canadian Athletes Trust Nutritional Supplements?

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 12, 2008) - Platinum Naturals Inc. announced today that there is now a way to assure that the supplements competitive athletes take are clean and safe. NSF International is running a testing and certification program, which ensures the purity and safety of supplements. NSF is a nonprofit organization devoted to testing and approving a wide range of products. Their program is the only testing program recognized by the International Olympic Committee as being safe for sport and Platinum Naturals is the only Canadian company undertaking the rigorous process for its Multivitamin formula Active-X, to be certified for sport.

Athletes look for a competitive edge and take vitamin and mineral supplements to help them achieve peak performance. However, according to a recent study, 1 in 4 dietary supplements were contaminated with banned substances (Informed Choice, 2007). "Banned substances are a significant threat to my career. I'm looking forward to the day when I absolutely know that what I'm taking is clean," says Nicole Guembel, Iron Man Triathlete.

The rigorous NSF testing process involves a series of manufacturing facility audits, label claim testing and banned substance testing. No other nutritional company in Canada is undergoing the process. NSF's standards are tough. Active-X multivitamin from Platinum Naturals is the first Canadian product under review.

The concern over multi-vitamin supplements will no longer haunt athletes, coaches and professional sports organizations. Platinum Naturals is raising the bar for the supplements industry and hoping that others will follow their example and do their part in keeping Canadian Athletes Clean.
