Canada Day: A Celebration of Canada's Best With the Ultimate Canadian Martini

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 19, 2008) -

Editors Note: A photo and video are included with this press release.

Canada has consistently ranked among the top ten countries in which to live in the world. This Canada Day (July 1) celebrate the best our country has to offer by hosting the definitive red and white maple leaf party.

Because freedom of speech, will and expression are naturally a part of Canada's culture, consider this party host's Top Ten list of Canada's best:

1. Mike Myers. From Austin to Love Guru, the comic from Scarborough is one of this country's national treasures. A DVD of Wayne's World could make a fun, unique hostess gift

2. Hockey. Basketball. Lacrosse. Canadians invented all of these games and continue to show the world how to play them. Use sports memorabilia to help decorate your place for your Canada Day party.

3. Pearl Pomegranate Vodka. Made with fresh Canadian Rocky Mountain water and prairie wheat it's no wonder it kicked butt at the World Beverage Competition and brought home the platinum award for best flavoured vodka... in the world. This year make a toast to Canada with the Ultimate Canadian Martini.

4. Barbeque and Patio Season. Canadians appreciate the brevity of these seasons, making warm weather indulgences all the more enjoyable. Heck, we enjoy them in cooler weather as well. That's why parkas were invented. Canadians are master barbequers. It's a worldwide envy.

5. B.C. Salmon, PEI Mussels, Fresh Lake Trout. Coast to coast and every lake in between, Canada offers the most impressive seafood selections. All very barbeque-able.

6. Melissa Craig of Bearfoot Bistro. Recently named Canada's Best Chef by Gold Medal Plates, Melissa will be welcoming the world to the Whistler restaurant during the 2010 Olympic Games. Women chefs rock.

7. Tim Horton's. Straight-forward, pronounceable coffee every time. Perfect with seasonal berries for a great Canadian dessert.

8. Poutine. Montreal Smoked Meat. Tortiere. Hey, we're a bilingual nation. Thankfully we also have free healthcare. Forgo counting all calories or fat content July 1.

9. Local produce. This red and white go green. Buy from local farmers. In fact, keep the "Made in Canada" theme all year.

10. Great Big Sea. Jully Black. kd lang. Some of Canada's greatest vocalists and musicians help create the perfect ambiance and may be the only place where you can have k.d. lang together with a barbequed skewer of beef.

Each of us has our own ideas of what makes Canada great. This Canada Day, start the conversation with others at your own backyard or cottage party. And when it's time to hold up your glass to Canada, make it the Ultimate Canadian martini:
