The Minister of State also met with senior government officials and leaders from business and academic circles to discuss concrete ways to promote innovation through collaborative partnerships.

"There are tremendous opportunities for international researchers and businesses to come to Canada and carry out research and development," said Minister of State Goodyear. "My visit to Japan allowed me to showcase these opportunities and promote stronger links with Canadian innovators."

In an address delivered to conference delegates from 80 countries, the Minister of State underscored the Harper Government's approach to science and technology, its achievements in building partnerships between academic and business interests, and its direct and indirect support of innovation.
