Canada Pavilion Coming to the Maritime Fall Fair

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 7, 2010) - The Canada Pavilion, the Government of Canada's travelling exhibit, will be featured at the Maritime Fall Fair from October 7 to 11, 2010.

"The Government of Canada is pleased to bring the Canada Pavilion to the Maritime Fall Fair this year," said the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women. "Our government is proud to offer the opportunity for Canadians and visitors to learn more about government priorities and the programs and services available to them."

The Canada Pavilion participates in various events across the country—travelling to each province once a year. It allows Canadians to meet face-to-face with Government of Canada representatives in an inviting, interactive and informative environment. The Canada Pavilion has won numerous prizes since its creation in 2000 and welcomed several million visitors.

A special feature of this year's Canada Pavilion at the Maritime Fall Fair will be a citizenship swearing-in ceremony at which 15 new Canadians will take their Oath of Citizenship. This is an excellent opportunity for our new citizens to be welcomed into the Canadian family. Those who currently are Canadians will be able to re-affirm their citizenship along with the newcomers.

The theme of this year's Pavilion is Canada's biodiversity, recognizing that 2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity. Visitors will be able to learn more about programs and services related to biodiversity and participate in several interactive games.

Several government departments and agencies will be present at the Maritime Fall Fair, including Agriculture and Agri-food Canada, which will be promoting its programs through the use of an interactive digital display and videos. Other departments include Canada Revenue Agency, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Environment Canada, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Service Canada.
