Canada Post: Local Speller Will Buzz off... to Ottawa to Compete in National Championship... Again

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - March 8, 2008) - Anqi Dong, a grade 8 student at Greystone Heights School in Saskatoon will represent Northern Saskatchewan at the national finals of the CanSpell Spelling Bee. The finals will take place in Ottawa, April 16-20, 2008.

Anqi competed against 40 top spellers from schools across the northern part of the province. For the fourth straight year, spelling superstardom was his with the successful spelling of: JUXTAPOSE!

This marks year two of Canada Post's continuing partnership with the CanSpell program," says Malcolm French, Media and Community Affairs Manager at Canada Post. "Our partnership with CanSpell demonstrates the post office's continued commitment to supporting literacy and a lifetime of learning. We thrilled to once again be associated with this very positive initiative that makes spelling fun!"

The 2008 bee season is in full swing with some 250,000 students expected to participate at the entry-level point through thousands of registered schools in Canada's ten provinces. Canada Post, as part of its presenting partner status, is paying the international registration fee for all Canadian schools, and as a result there will be no fee for schools or spellers at any point in the CanSpell program.
