Canada Post Staff to Collect Letters to Santa

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 11, 2005) - A reminder to children attending this year's Christmas parade in Ottawa on November 19: don't forget your letters to Santa! Canada Post employees will be walking the parade route collecting children's letters to Santa. All children are invited to bring their letters to the parade addressed to:

SANTA CLAUS
NORTH POLE H0H 0H0
CANADA

Letters collected at the parade will be forwarded to Santa's postal "elves" for reply. Young writers should remember to include their full return address.

Now in its 23rd year, the Santa Letter-Writing Program is Canada Post's leading initiative in support of literacy, the Corporation's cause of choice. Each year, more than 11,000 current and retired employees of Canada Post volunteer their time to ensure children who write to Santa receive a response. Last year, these volunteers helped Santa answer more than one million letters from children across Canada and around the world. All letters bearing a return address get a response in the language they were written.
