Canada's Economic Action Plan Delivers Results: Minister MacKay Celebrates the Completion of Infrastructure Stimulus Fund Projects in Nova Scotia

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 7, 2011) - The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, today celebrated the successful conclusion of infrastructure projects across Nova Scotia under the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund, a key part of Canada's Economic Action Plan.

"Our government delivered timely and targeted funding that created jobs and boosted our regional economy here in Nova Scotia," said Minister MacKay. "Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, we supported 122 Infrastructure Stimulus Fund projects across Nova Scotia that will strengthen communities for years to come."

Through Canada's Economic Action Plan, the Government of Canada has worked in partnership with provinces, territories and municipalities and other partners to deliver timely and targeted investment to create jobs and boost the economy.

Through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund alone, over $97 million was committed to 122 projects in communities across Nova Scotia. In every corner of the province, jobs were created when the economy needed them most. Projects ranged from improvements to roads and highways, to upgrades to Point Pleasant Park, to improvements at Cape Chignecto Provincial Park, to new fire stations in Herring Cove and Tantallon, to the construction of the new Chain of Lakes transportation trail. A complete list of funded projects in Nova Scotia is available at

Although the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund is now completed, the economic benefits of these projects will last for years to come.
