Canada's Entrepreneurial Community to Connect in Toronto

Startup conference will gather leaders from around the world to build a new climate for innovation

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 9, 2008) - The ingredients for the next big entrepreneurial success story are in place - now it's time to turn ideas into action.

On November 13th and 14th the first ever StartupEmpire conference will bring together the world's best and brightest entrepreneurs, investors and those passionate about innovation to connect and create a new vision for Canada's technology ecosystem. The goal is to educate and inspire everyone from seasoned executives to people armed only with ideas through a mixed track that includes keynotes, panels, workshops and networking events.

StartupEmpire is the first show created for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs who understand what it takes to build a startup in Canada today, and marks Canada's only major conference focused on the ins and outs of entrepreneurship. Notable founders and thought leaders - including Microsoft's Don Dodge, David Cohen, founder and CEO of TechStars, marketing strategist Hugh MacLeod, and hedge fund manager and blogger Howard Lindzon - will be on hand to discuss their experiences in building startups and structuring investment deals, and share their insight into the future of startups in Canada and abroad.

Produced by the creators of, DemoCamp, and Founders & Funders, StartupEmpire will build upon these successes to cultivate a sustainable climate of entrepreneurial innovation in Canada.

"Toronto is recognized around the world as a technology and startup hotspot, and it's time for the local community to build deeper connections and start building the next Canadian success story," says Jevon Macdonald, co-founder, StartupEmpire. "StartupEmpire is designed to energize our community of entrepreneurs and prepare them to do something great."

Those with ideas for a speaker or topic are invited to submit their proposal as soon as possible.
