92.5 The Beat is excited to announce that it will be dropping Canada's largest pumpkin to the ground for Halloween. In an event that's sure to be a ton of fun for the whole family - literally - the radio station has arranged to have the 1,753 lb. pumpkin suspended from a crane over 100 feet in the air and then dropped in front of a gathered crowd, where it will meet its ultimate demise. The giant squash is being supplied by a local farmer.

Beat Breakfast announcer Cat Spencer is the man behind the whole idea.

"The band Smashing Pumpkins happens to be in Montreal that day, but that's not why I came up with the idea", jokes the morning man. "I was actually inspired by the recent free-fall from space, and thought 'How cool would it be to free-fall a pumpkin for all the kids at Halloween?' "

To add even more excitement to the event, The Beat is filling the prize pumpkin with 92 numbered Ping-Pong balls that have been won by listeners. When the pumpkin goes smash, the person whose ball lands closest to the target will win a $5000 gift card from The Brick.
