Canadian Army to Train in the Niagara Region

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 11, 2014) - Approximately 2,000 Canadian Army soldiers from Regular and Reserve units across Ontario will be training in the communities of the Niagara Peninsula, from August 16 to 24, as part of Exercise STALWART GUARDIAN 14. Personnel will however be in the area from August 13 to 26, 2014.

The public will see military vehicles, buses, and personnel conducting a variety of activities as they practice and test their skills. Caution should be used when passing military vehicles parked on road shoulders as there may be soldiers on foot in the vicinity. When military personnel are involved in a tactical training activity, it is requested that members of the public not obstruct their activities or move in close proximity where soldiers may be focused on their training task. Members of the public will see soldiers carrying weapons. During the exercise, only blank ammunition will be used.

Exercises such as STALWART GUARDIAN 2014 are an important way to hone critical skills and be prepared to assist Canadians when and where military help is needed.
