The Canadian Bankers Association (CBA) announced today the appointment of Eric Prud'homme as its Director, Quebec. Mr. Prud'homme has been the CBA's legal counsel in Montreal for the past 10 years and, more recently, an advisor in government relations. He succeeds Jacques Hebert, who is retiring after more than 36 years of service but will remain with the CBA as an advisor until December 31st.

"Eric has very capably managed a number of complex legal issues in Quebec on behalf of the banking industry," said Terry Campbell, President of the Canadian Bankers Association. "He is well respected by his colleagues and peers, and is well-qualified to take on the responsibilities of Director for Quebec. Eric will continue to provide the CBA and its members with an effective voice in working with the province of Quebec on public policies that affect banks."

Mr. Prud'homme has a Bachelor's degree in business administration from the Université du Québec and a Bachelor's degree in Quebec Civil Law from the Université de Montréal. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1995. Prior to joining the CBA, Mr. Prud'homme worked as a litigation lawyer at a number of law firms in Montreal.

Mr. Campbell said the following about Jacques Hebert: "We are grateful to have had Jacques at the CBA for 36 years. His tireless work has brought bankers, government officials, policy makers and other groups together to discuss banking and policy issues that are of importance to Quebeckers. We thank him for his strong track record of service to the banking industry in Quebec."
