Canadian Business Magazine Recognizes Descartes as Best Canadian Company During International Business Awards

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 11, 2006) - Logistics software and services specialist The Descartes Systems Group Inc. received an honorary award for the best of the Canadian entries submitted to The International Business Awards from Canadian Business magazine, one of the media sponsors.

The International Business Awards or IBAs are considered the business world's version of the Oscars and nicknamed similarly after the trophy as "the Stevies." The Stevies are recognized as the only all-encompassing business awards honoring great performances in the workplace.

Sponsors of the IBAs acknowledged a variety of awards-related accomplishments at the ceremony in New York on June 26 where Canadian Business presented an honorary Stevie to Descartes' chief executive officer Arthur Mesher. The magazine said Descartes' award entry that identified a series of changes that turned the company into one of the financial performance leaders in its market in 2005 was a stand-out.

"To put this in perspective, Canada won 12 out of 82 International Stevies this year which is second only to the U.S.," said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of The Stevie Awards, the organization that runs the IBAs. "Descartes had a great deal of competition for the honorary Stevie that Canadian Business designated for the most notable Canadian entry. Descartes should be very proud."

Descartes won an International Stevie for its marked improvement in operating performance over the past year. International Stevie winners were selected from more than 700 entries received from companies and individuals in more than 30 countries.

"We are privileged to be able to deliver positive measurable results to our customers with our logistics technology solutions," said Mesher. "Their success and support is a principal reason we were honored with the 'Best Canadian Company' Stevie award from Canadian Business magazine."

Canadian Business is Canada's best-selling business magazine. Its editorial mission is to deliver the most current perspective and analysis of the people, companies and events that drive the country's business agenda. Canadian Business has provided business intelligence for more than 75 years.
