Canadian Coast Guard Hosts Open Houses Across Maritimes Region


DARTMOUTH, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - June 29, 2012) - Canadian Coast Guard Maritimes Region will be hosting open houses at its nine Search and Rescue stations as well as the Canso Canal as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.

The stations and the Canso Canal in Port Hastings, Nova Scotia will be open to visitors on July 7, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors will be able to meet Coast Guard personnel and tour the stations and Canso Canal operational areas. People will be able to see the equipment and machines the Canadian Coast Guard uses daily to ensure the safety of Canadians at sea, the protection of the marine environment and safe operation of the waterway at the Canso Canal.

Search and Rescue stations in all three Maritime Provinces are participating. In Nova Scotia, stations are located at Louisburg, Port Bickerton, Sambro, Clarks Harbour and Westport. In New Brunswick, there are stations in Saint John and Shippagan. Stations in Prince Edward Island are located at Summerside and Souris.
