TORONTO, ON --(Marketwired - May 24, 2016) - To help raise awareness about the benefits of medical cannabis and the challenges that many Canadians face in covering the associated costs, Lift, a Vancouver-based company, is offering one lucky patient free medical cannabis for a year. Dubbed "Canada's Free Cannabis Contest," Lift invites eligible contestants to enter on its website or in-person at the company's upcoming Lift Cannabis Expo (May 28 - 29th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre) in Toronto. The winner will receive up to one gram of medical cannabis per day, for 365 days.
To make this unique contest possible (and legal), Lift has partnered with federally-licensed producer, Broken Coast Cannabis -- a small, craft grower located on Vancouver Island -- who will be supplying the medicine to the winner. Tyler Sookochoff, Lift's CEO, says of the innovative contest, "Broken Coast grows some of the finest medical cannabis in the country and continuously receives the highest praise from patients as seen in our online patient review database. We're proud to be working with them on this contest to help raise awareness about the benefits of medical cannabis. Lift is asking entrants to leave feedback about how medical cannabis has improved their lives and how winning the contest would help them. The company hopes to use this feedback to help push for more financial assistance and coverage for patients.
Sookochoff says of Canada's federal medical cannabis system: "I'm not sure there's another country in the world that could host a contest like this legally, so in some ways that in itself is a testament to Canada's progressive marijuana policies -- although there's still a ways to go to ensure there's adequate access for all." The contest ends May 29 at 11:59pm, with the winner will be randomly drawn and announced June 15.
