Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment: Media Advisory-Change in Time for News Conference Environment Ministers to Meet in Whitehorse

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Feb. 17, 2009) - The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment (CCME) will meet in Whitehorse today, February 17, 2009 to discuss a range of issues including municipal wastewater effluent, climate change and strategies to reduce packaging and encourage producers to take greater environmental responsibility for the products they manufacture.

The Council is made up of environment ministers from each of the provinces, territories and the Government of Canada. The current president of CCME, the Hon. Elaine Taylor, Yukon's Environment Minister, will chair the meeting, which will be held at Yukon College (500 College Drive, Whitehorse, Yukon).

There will be a photo opportunity for members of the media at 10 am. At the close of the meeting the Council will issue a communique and hold a news conference on Tuesday February 17, 2009, at 12:45 pm PST (3:45 pm EST) in the gymnasium of Yukon College.
