Canadian Employers “Walk the Talk”

Survey Results Reveal Top 10 Western Canadian Employers

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, Lifestyle Editor VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, MEDIA ADVISORY--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 19, 2006) - In the first Employers Who "Walk The Talk" survey, the top employers in Canada were chosen; the winners from Western Canada were announced today.

3. Flight Centre Canada
4. Pacific Western Brewing Company
5. Schlumberger Canada Ltd.
6. Rocky Mountaineer Vacations
7. Vancity
8. The Ethical Funds Company and Credential Financial Inc.
9. British Columbia Institute of Technology
10. TransCanada Pipelines Ltd.

With the objective of providing a voice to Canadians in the workplace, employees were given the opportunity to evaluate their employers on walking the talk metrics such as ethics, trust, support and transparency. Designed to be anonymous, the survey encouraged employees to rank their employers as honestly as possible without any fear of career consequences. To qualify for ranking, companies were required to be Canadian-based, have a minimum of 50 employees, and receive a minimum of ten nominations. The survey was distributed nationally in June 2006, and was divided between Eastern and Western Canada resulting in two top ten finalist rankings.

Developed by Market Yourself Smarter, a career learning and trends company, and The Collin Baer Group, one of Canada's boldest human resource firms, the "Walk the Talk" survey was a first for Canada in its organic approach, not sponsored or enforced by an employer organization.
