Canadian Forces Base Halifax to Conduct Nuclear Emergency Exercise

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - April 21, 2013) - Residents of Halifax regional municipality, especially in the vicinity of 12 Wing Shearwater, are to be advised there will be a nuclear emergency exercise conducted on the lower and upper base along with the roads in the vicinity of the base between Tuesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 25.

These exercises are conducted bi-annually to ensure that personnel are familiar with emergency response plans and interoperability between local, provincial and Federal departments is practiced. There will be increased emergency vehicle movement and personnel participating in the exercise. Safety teams will monitor and control all activities. Any inconvenience to residents and motorists is regretted.
