OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 31, 2012) - On Friday, June 1st 2012, approximately 3,500 Canadian Forces members and civilian employees of the Department of National Defence and staff of the Non-Public Funds will participate in the 6th annual Walk/Run in Red in downtown Ottawa. Street closures will be in effect from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Specifically, Colonel By Drive will be closed from the Laurier Bridge to the Bank Street Bridge, and Queen Elizabeth Drive will be closed from the Bank Street Bridge to Confederation Park. During this time, only one southbound lane on Bank Street Bridge will be open. Intersections along this route will be blocked during the event, and it is expected that traffic on both Colonel By Drive and Queen Elizabeth Drive will be affected. Commuters are encouraged to plan alternate routes during this event.

The public is encouraged to show support for Canadian Forces Day events by cheering on the walkers and runners.
