Canadian Heritage: Secretary of State Kenney Attends South Asian Festival

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 16, 2008) - The Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), will speak tomorrow at the South Asian Festival.

"The Government of Canada is proud to participate in the South Asian Festival, another great activity being held during Asian Heritage Month," said Secretary of State Kenney. "Events such as this one allow us to learn from each other and experience our differences while celebrating our common Canadian identity."

Activities being held as part of this 5th edition of the South Asian Festival include a Canadian talent development music search, a cross-cultural music festival, a multicultural dance festival, an outdoor carnival, a robotics competition, a food festival, and a trade show.

The Government of Canada is committed to reaching out to all Canadians and is developing lasting relationships with ethnic and religious communities in Canada. It encourages these communities to participate fully in Canadian society by enhancing their level of economic, social, and cultural integration.
