Canadian Hydro Completes Commissioning of the Grande Prairie EcoPower® Centre

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - June 24, 2005) - Canadian Hydro Developers, Inc. (TSX:KHD) ("Canadian Hydro" or the "Company") today announced that that on June 21, 2005, commissioning was completed and commercial operations commenced at the 25 MW Grande Prairie EcoPower® Centre. All of the power, steam heat and the majority of the environmental attributes from this plant are sold under various long-term sales contracts ranging from 14 years to the life of this project. The Company's total installed capacity is now 143 MW.

"We are extremely pleased with the completion of our first biomass plant," said John Keating, Chief Executive Officer. "This plant will further diversify our green power portfolio, adding to the long-term asset base and cash flows of the Company. In addition, this plant will provide stable energy prices to the Government of Alberta, Canfor and the City of Grande Prairie, as well as significantly improving the air quality in the City of Grande Prairie and surrounding areas."

Canadian Hydro is a developer, owner and operator of 16 low impact renewable energy power plants, representing 143 MW of net installed capacity, which are all certified, or slated for certification, under the EcoLogo(M) program. Canadian Hydro's construction projects, including the Upper Mamquam Hydroelectric and Melancthon Grey Wind Projects are slated for certification under this program upon completion.
