Canadian Navy Media Advisory: Windsor Welcomes Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Toronto

WINDSOR, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 15, 2005) - The Commanding Officer and ship's company of Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Toronto are pleased to announce that the ship and her crew will be visiting the City of Windsor from July 17th to 20th.

The ship will be open for visitors July 18th and 19th from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The ship will be berthed at Dieppe Park, at the foot of Ouellette Avenue. People visiting the ship are asked to bring photo ID and to please leave personal kit bags ashore.

The ship has completed two tours of duty in the Persian Gulf Region as part of Canada's ongoing commitment to the Multinational Campaign against Terrorism. She is fully interoperable with the US Navy and is one of the most combat capable warships in the world.

The ship, under the command of Commander Stuart Moors, has been in the Great Lakes visiting both Toronto and Cleveland and conducting training exercises since July 7, 2005.
