Canadian Nuclear Association's Murray Elston to Speak

Ontario Energy Association (OEA) Breakfast Speakers Series - March 21, 2007

Attention: Business/Financial Editor, Environment Editor, Energy Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, NEWS RELEASE--(CCNMatthews - March 20, 2007) - Murray Elston, President and CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association will speak this Wednesday, March 21 at Stop 33 at the Sutton Place Hotel as part of the 2007 Ontario Energy Association Breakfast Speakers Series.

Elston's topic - "The Role of Nuclear Power in Ontario's Electricity Supply Mix: Challenges, Opportunities and the Need for an Informed Public Dialogue" - is especially timely in light of the Ontario government's decision that nuclear power continue to play an important role in Ontario's energy future and with the release, expected this spring, of the Ontario Power Authority's Integrated Power System Plan for Ontario's electricity system.

Nuclear power is enjoying a renaissance around the world because of concerns about climate change and long-term fossil fuel supplies: the International Atomic Energy Agency projects at least 60 new plants over the next 15 years.

The OEA's popular Breakfast Speakers Series features approximately 9-10 keynote speakers a year. Participants have the opportunity to network and hear from leaders in the industry, the broader business community, government and government agencies - all in the span of an hour and a half at the start of the day at the Sutton Place Hotel in downtown Toronto.

The 170-member Ontario Energy Association (OEA) is Ontario's premier energy trade organization and represents firms involved in the transmission, distribution and marketing of natural gas, and the generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity across Ontario. OEA members together employ about 32,000 Ontarians and last year accounted for almost $34 billion in market revenues.
