The Canadian Press adds automotive, hockey and lifestyle content to its suite of news products by syndicating feature articles, photos and videos from four new partners

The Hockey News, LC Media, MOTORING and Vitamin Daily are making their content available to The Canadian Press for worldwide licensing and distribution to its publishing and digital media customers.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 17, 2013) - The Canadian Press, Canada's most trusted news source and leader in providing real-time, bilingual multimedia content, is expanding its product lineup with the addition of third-party feature articles, photos and videos covering automotive, hockey and local lifestyle and entertainment. As the exclusive, worldwide reseller of content produced by The Hockey News, LC Media, MOTORING and Vitamin Daily, The Canadian Press can now license and distribute their content to customers for use in newspapers, websites and mobile platforms.

"We're proud to be able to offer our customers this type of high-quality feature content that complements our own breaking news products," said Malcolm Kirk, President of The Canadian Press.

Caroline Andrews, Vice-President and Group Publisher, Sports, Home, Entertainment and Western Media Group at TC Media, said, "The Hockey News is an iconic brand and we look forward to it being represented in the marketplace by The Canadian Press, a true leader in the news industry. We're excited that CP can now make available to their clients THN's in-depth features, industry-leading NHL prospect analysis, behind-the-scenes insight, predictions, commentary, unique hockey lifestyle pieces, videos and more."

"We chose CP to resell our automotive news, vehicle previews, road tests, editorials, features, photo galleries and videos because they've built great relationships with their customers and already serve well-known English and French media brands across Canada," said Jean Lemieux, President of LC Media, one of Canada's largest English- and French-language content providers in the automotive, motorcycle, ATV and motorboat fields for over 47 years.

"For the first time, CP's clients can publish MOTORING's informative and entertaining automobile videos to help drive traffic to their websites," said Brad Diamond, President of Bradford Productions and Executive Producer of MOTORING, North America's top automotive broadcast, airing on TSN since 1987. "This is especially significant given Automotive is still the largest ad revenue category for publishers, and has grown from 12 per cent to 15 per cent of total Canadian Online advertising revenue in 2011, according to the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada."

Sarah Bancroft, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Vitamin Daily, said having a reputable organization like The Canadian Press as a content reseller is "an excellent opportunity for us. It helps expand the audience for our tips and editors' picks that provide reviews and recommendations, in English and French, on the latest in fashion, health, home decor, culture, dining, travel and more in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal."

"In talking to our clients, we learned their audiences are consuming more features, more automotive coverage and more local content, so we partnered with content producers that could fulfill those areas," said Charles Messina, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing with The Canadian Press. "Whether we originate the content or source it from reliable third parties, The Canadian Press is looking to make it simpler and convenient for clients wanting a main provider for their content needs, instead of dealing with many different companies."
