Canadian Property Stars Finds Fundraising Success

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 13, 2013) -

Locally owned Canadian Property Stars announced today the results of its first annual employee-led holiday fundraising campaign. In just over two months, the seasonal property maintenance company and its employees raised $30,000 for Habitat for Humanity Canada, and donated over 25,000 new toys to The Salvation Army in time for Christmas.

Canadian Property Stars' (CPS) 'Fundraising Toy Drive' concept was developed by company owner Ben Stewart in an effort to keep company staff busy during their 'off-season', and as a means to give back to the communities that continue to support their direct sales staff of lawn aeration, driveway sealing and cleaning services each year.

CPS, known across Canada for bringing property maintenance services directly to homeowners each Spring and Summer, has experienced great success and growth by focusing on providing affordable services that homeowners want, and by employing hard working youth in each of its twelve major cities.

CPS partnered with retail outlets that hosted the sales teams in six cities across Canada (Ottawa, North York, Mississauga, Scarborough, Calgary, Edmonton) and consumers purchased gift items knowing that a portion of the proceeds would be given to Habitat for Humanity Canada. Said Andrew Thornicroft (National Manager of Corporate Partnerships for Habitat for Humanity Canada), "We're grateful for CPS's donation to Habitat for Humanity. The funds raised through their Toy Drive will help build affordable houses in the community where the funds were raised, which can then be sold with zero percent interest mortgages to hardworking Canadian families."

Canadian consumers proved themselves particularly generous by also choosing to donate many of their toy purchases to local toy campaigns, as collected by the CPS teams. In total, 25,837 new toys were presented to toy campaigns in the six cities of operation in 2013. "The Salvation Army is very fortunate to partner with caring organizations like Canadian Property Stars in raising money and toys to help people in need right across Canada," said Michael Maidment, spokesperson for the organization in the National Capital Region. "With the demand for programs and services in the community growing each year, partnerships like this are essential to our community's success."
