Canadian Shield Starts Drill Program

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 6, 2005) - Canadian Shield Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:CSP) ("Canadian Shield" or the "Company") has initiated drilling at the Humajala Gold Property in Peru.

"Our systematic and detailed approach to geology has enabled us to select high-priority drill targets at the Humajala Gold Property. We were encouraged by previous drilling that intersected 0.76 g/t gold over a width of 46 m in hole HUM-08 and we are looking forward this next phase of drilling," reports Lynda Bloom, President & CEO of Canadian Shield.

A crew of up to five geologists and geotechnicians have been at the Humajala Gold Property working under the supervision of Terence Bottrill, P.Geo., the Company's Exploration Manager, and Qualified Person for this project. A bulldozer has been on the Humajala Gold Property for almost two weeks preparing new access roads to the planned drill sites. New rock outcrops have been exposed along the three-kilometre road, which have been mapped and sampled. The additional mapping has added to the geological understanding of the Humajala Gold Property, along with the detailed field mapping completed over the last four months.

Drill core from previous drill campaigns was re-logged and the geology reinterpreted with the use of mineralogical and trace element geochemistry. The resulting revised geological model, consistent with both the field observations and the re-logged core, provided an improved basis for a re-interpretation of the previous induced polarization ("IP") geophysical surveys conducted on the Humajala Gold Property by Normandy Mining in 2002. VGD del Peru S.A.C (a subsidiary of Val d'Or Geophysics) has been contracted to complete an IP / Resistivity survey using a multi-separation pole-dipole array, designed to obtain a depth of penetration of 300 meters below the surface at 200-metre line separation, for a total of 24,500 metres of line survey to commence this week.

Canadian Shield has entered into a drill contract with Bradley-MDH S.A. to complete a program of 3,000 metres of NQ drilling. Drilling commenced on August 31st and to-date two drill holes have been completed for a total of 483m. Samples have been submitted to SGS Peru, Lima for assaying and preliminary assays are expected mid-September.

Canadian Shield Resources Inc. is currently focused on the acquisition, exploration and development of precious metal and base metal properties in Peru. The Company's shares are listed on the TSX Venture Exchange (Trading Symbol CSP: TSX V).
