About the National Astronaut Recruitment Campaign:

The National Astronaut Recruitment Campaign was launched in May 2008. A record 5351 potential astronaut candidates submitted applications online. Through a year-long recruitment process, the CSA evaluated selected candidates through a series of interviews, medical exams, and physical and skills tests in sometimes extreme conditions. In March the CSA revealed the names of the top 16 candidates. The final selection is now complete. For more information on the campaign, see: .
