The Canadian SPCA is Proud to Host its Inaugural Dog Walk-A-Thon to Help More Dogs Like Skully!

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 12, 2005) - The Canadian SPCA is proud to hosts its inaugural dog walk-a-thon, the Shaggy Dog Strut on Sunday October 16th. The goal of this event is to raise money to hire more Animal Protection Officers so me may help more cases like Skully and prevent this abuse.

Skully's story...

Skully is a pitbull who was only a few months old when she was found with four other young pitbulls abandoned in a apartment without food or water. Skully's condition was the worst. Not only were the dogs left alone in the apartment, but Skully was left locked alone in a room. When Marie-Noelle, our Patroller, opened the door, Scully was so weak that she was not even able to react to Marie-Noelle's presence. The extreme emaciated condition of the dogs indicated that they were being starved for a long period.

Today Skully receives a lot of tender loving care from her foster family. When Scully came to the SPCA, her muscles were so atrophied she could not stand or sit. She needed to learn again. But there is hope! In only a few days, she had begun to crawl. Now, she is happily playing with the other dogs at her foster home! The other dogs, although very thin, are in better shape and are also receiving special care.

We suspect Scully and the other dogs were intended for the dog fights. Yes! The truth is sometimes very difficult but this is the reality.

Despite the neglect and abuse Skully experienced at the hands of humans, she is very, very GENTLE!

Actually, you will be able to see for yourself how well Scully is doing as she will be walking with us on Sunday October 16th!!!!!
