Canadian Student Gets Selected for Executive of Largest Student Run Organization in the World

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 30, 2012) -

AIESEC Canada is proud to announce that its President, Peter Gallivan, has been selected for the executive management team of AIESEC International, based in the Netherlands.

AIESEC is the largest student-run organization in the world and has 60 years of experience in developing high-potential youth into globally minded responsible leaders. Through the facilitation of a global internship program, members build their business and leadership skills and gain global work experience. The AIESEC International team leads the 60,000 members the organization has worldwide in 110 countries.

Peter, 23, was heavily involved with AIESEC at the University of Ottawa while he was working on completing his Bachelor's degree in International Business. Instead of completing his degree, Peter has taken the past two years off to gain real-world experience by working for AIESEC Canada, the first year as National Vice-President Corporate Relations, and this year as the National President. He has been selected for the Vice President of Marketing position.

"AIESEC has been a perfect complement to my university experience," explained Peter. "To be able to lead and impact a global organization this early in my career is an opportunity that I would have never thought possible. I am honoured to be part of AIESEC International next year, and to represent not only my country, but Canadian students on this global stage."

Peter will be joining the AIESEC International team in Rotterdam in June of this year.

For over 50 years, AIESEC Canada has been facilitating their Global Internship Program for companies, students and recent grads. AIESEC Canada is one part of the world's largest student-run organization and is based out of Toronto.
