Canadian Superior Energy Inc. Provides Update on Western Canadian Operations

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 26, 2005) - Canadian Superior Energy Inc. (TSX:SNG) (AMEX:SNG) ("Canadian Superior") of Calgary, Alberta, Canada said today that it is pleased to announce the results of its summer drilling and completion program which enabled the Company to surpass the 3000 BOE/d production mark despite unseasonably rainy weather in its operating areas. This important production milestone is a direct result of the Company's very successful drilling campaign started in the first half of 2005. Even higher production numbers are expected shortly with the tie in of one additional well, a re-completion of another and the completion of a major Coal Bed Methane (CBM) gas gathering system that will support the Company's non-operated Coal Bed Methane (Horseshoe Canyon) program of over 46 wells (see Coal Bed Methane (CBM) Holdings Map). The majority of the conventional production for SNG comes from the Drumheller area, located 60 miles northeast of Calgary, where the Company expects to begin its fall drilling program within the next few weeks which will include the shooting of a 27 square kilometer 3D seismic shoot to delineate recent successes in this area. Drumheller is also in the heart of Western Canada's evolving coal bed methane (CBM) play where Canadian Superior has one of the single largest concentrated high working interest positions. Canadian Superior's CBM development should add significant production alongside Canadian Superior's conventional production base in the Drumheller area over the months to come.

The Company also plans on drilling or re-completing several medium risk high reward exploration wells in other areas of Alberta which include Windfall, Boundary Lake and Teepee. These wells and re-completions will be started before year end weather permitting.

Canadian Superior is a Calgary, Alberta based oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in Western Canada, offshore Trinidad and Tobago and offshore Nova Scotia.
