Canadian Superior Updates Drilling Progress at "Endeavour" Well on "Intrepid" Block 5(c) Offshore Trinidad

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 17, 2008) - Canadian Superior Energy Inc. ("Canadian Superior", the "Company") (TSX:SNG)(AMEX:SNG) announced today, as Operator of the "Intrepid" Block 5(c), that it has successfully drilled the next section of the "Endeavour" well, the 22" hole section, to a depth of 4,739 feet subsea. The "Endeavour" well was spudded on August 28, 2008 and, as reported previously, both the 36" and 26" sections of the well have been drilled successfully and cased with 30" and 20" casing, respectively.

Wireline logs have been run in this well section and present operations on the "Endeavour" include running and cementing 16" casing in place and various preparations to re-commence drilling. The next intermediate section of the well, the 17-1/2" hole section, will be drilled to a depth of approximately 11,000 feet subsea. The well is planned to be drilled to a total depth of approximately 18,000 feet subsea and the primary objective includes proving up higher pressure horizons like those seen in "Bounty" with a secondary objective including at least one of the productive horizons penetrated in the "Victory" well.

Speaking today, Craig McKenzie, Canadian Superior's Chief Executive Officer, said, "Our drilling operations on 'Endeavour' are going well. At this rate, we will reach our primary target horizons earlier than planned. With the verification of our 3-D seismic interpretation that the 'Victory' and 'Bounty' discoveries provided, we remain confident that the 'Endeavour' results will become yet another milestone in our successes this year."

The "Endeavour" well is being drilled by the Kan Tan IV semi-submersible drilling rig in about 1,000 feet of water, which also drilled the "Victory" and "Bounty" natural gas discovery wells on this block.
