Canadian Wildlife Federation Welcomes National Conservation Plan

OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - May 15, 2014) - The Canadian Wildlife Federation is pleased by Prime Minister Stephen Harper's launch today of the National Conservation Plan. The Federal Government's announcement of the plan and investment in conservation is a positive step forward that will benefit all Canadians by focusing and enhancing conservation efforts in Canada. The announcement begins a new phase, transitioning from the development of the plan to its implementation.

"We are particularly pleased to see the commitment to marine and coastal conservation, voluntary stewardship and to connecting Canadians with nature," says Rick Bates, Canadian Wildlife Federation Executive Director. "We look forward to working with the government to advance these programs areas."

CWF participated in different parts of the consultation process to identify conservation priorities and is pleased that many of the CWF recommendations are reflected in the plan.
