CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - May 31, 2012) - The Cancer Support Center (CSC) hosts its 21st Golf Outing and Tribute Dinner in memory of Steve Fallick at Flossmoor Country Club on July 15 and 16. The outing will feature Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk, who will compete against participants on the par 3 seventh hole. The TRJ Humanitarian Award is given each year in memory of Mr. Thomas R. Jones, the husband of Patti McDonald, co-founder of The Center. Jones died of cancer, but was known for his humanitarian ways.

"The work Brent Bachus has done on the Community Board, Development Committee and for The Center is immeasurable," said Barrett. "Brent continues to inspire all of us to do more, be more and work harder to spread the mission and vision of The Cancer Support Center."

On Monday, July 16th, enjoy golf with Carlton Fisk, Hall of Famer, from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Flossmoor Country Club, 1441 Western Avenue, Flossmoor. Golf registration begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by complimentary lunch and a Shotgun start at noon. Event features include pictures with Carlton Fisk, silent auction prizes, raffles, games, and an opportunity to win a signed Carlton Fisk jersey.

The Cancer Support Center provides programs at no charge for anyone affected by cancer in more than 70 South Chicago communities. 21 years ago, a young mother and widow named Jenny started this golf outing in memory of her husband, Steve Fallick, who died from cancer.

"The Annual Golf Outing in memory of Steve Fallick is The Center's most treasured event. It's a great opportunity to network with a variety of people who are all somehow connected with The CSC, and reminds us what love and family can do in support of those fighting cancer," said Bridget VanEekeren, chair for this year's golf outing.

About The Cancer Support Center
The Cancer Support Center in Homewood, Ill. was formed in 1994, when six Southland women worked together to open a home-like center (with locations in Homewood and Mokena) for people in more than 70 Chicago southland and Northwest Indiana communities.

The Center provides services free of charge to a diverse participant base including cancer patients, caregivers, children, teens and friends of the cancer patient. Having seen their ideas grow to fruition, several of the original "seed planters" still serve in day-to-day roles at The Cancer Support Center.

In addition to support groups, individual and family counseling sessions and The Center's comprehensive Resource Center, wellness programs are offered on a weekly basis. Participants enjoy yoga, qi gong, meditation, relaxation, massage therapy, Reiki and healing touch. On average, The Center staff responds to more than 300 calls or visits to the Homewood and Mokena locations.
