Cancom Tracking and Ontario Trucking Association Present Dispatcher of the Year Award

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 18, 2005) -

Honour Goes to Tyrone Downs of Erb Transport

Cancom Tracking in partnership with the Ontario Trucking Association today named Tyrone Downs, a dispatcher with Erb Transport, based in Trenton, Ont., Ontario's 2005 OTA/Cancom Dispatcher of the Year.

The award, sponsored by Cancom Tracking, goes to a dispatcher who has demonstrated a commitment to customer service, safety, driver well being, courtesy, team work, problem solving and community service/volunteer work.

Mr. Downs was presented with the award during a breakfast ceremony today at the Ontario Trucking Association's annual convention (Nov. 17-18) held at the Toronto Congress Centre.

"In association with the OTA, Cancom is once again proud to present the Dispatcher of the Year award to yet another deserving winner. Tyrone Downs is a model dispatcher who continues to bridge the gap between his drivers and his customers, which continues to be a challenge due to changes in the industry," commented Mike Ham, Cancom Tracking Vice President.

Mr. Downs, 28, has been employed by Erb Transport for nine years. He was selected to receive the award because of his outstanding ability to look after the company's customers and drivers.

"Tyrone does an outstanding job for the Erb Group and more specifically, for his fellow employees - every day," says John Verkuyl, Erb's Trenton Terminal Manager and one of those who nominated Downs for the award. "The drivers who he dispatches greatly appreciate the fact that he goes the extra mile to be aware of every load so that he can plan ahead for them. He will ask drivers if they feel too tired to do extra work, or strive to get them home early for appointments or family commitments."

"Tyrone seems to go out of his way to help local truck drivers, as well as the line haul and US drivers," says Martin Fagg, a driver with Erb since November 2003. "Tye has also got on a forklift many times, without even batting an eye, to help unload or load trailers on the weekends. He should get this award because he has a good work ethic, is friendly, pleasant on the phone, responds to satellite messages promptly, and asks if you are too tired to do some extra work....And customers are always a concern for Tyrone and somehow he manages to balance both customer's needs and driver's needs and he is consistent with it."

Mr. Downs started as a part-time dockworker with Erb during high school and quickly moved up to work full-time at the dock during the summer of 1996. In July 1999, Downs started working as a dispatcher/dockworker, loading and unloading on Sundays, and by July 2003 he earned a senior dispatcher position.

Mr. Downs is a full time family man as well, regularly attending soccer games with his two sons and wife.

At this morning's ceremony, Mr. Downs was presented with a keepsake plaque and a cash award.
