canfitpro Provides the Opportunity for Physical Activity to Individuals and Families Living With Autism

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - July 13, 2016) - Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental condition that impacts typical brain growth. As a spectrum disorder, ASD has a wide variation in how it affects each person (their needs, skills and abilities). There are some common characteristics including difficulties with communication and social interactions, repetitive interests and activities, and stereotypic motor behaviours.

canfitpro is committed to raise $100,000 by 2020 to create the canfitpro Outdoor Recreation Space at the Pacific Autism Family Centre (PAFC). The canfitpro Outdoor Recreation Space will support individuals and families with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disorders to integrate physical activity into their time at the Centre.

Through this fundraising initiative, we will create an outdoor environment where youth and adults feel safe and comfortable, engaged, gently stimulated to socialize and have ample transitional spaces. This play area will also be equipped with fitness equipment that is intended to improve strength, coordination, and balance.

While attending the canfitpro world fitness expo in Toronto from August 10 -14, 2016, attendees can make a donation at registration and at the canfitpro booth. Thai Massage Toronto and Navina Thai Massage Therapy will also be collecting donations in exchange for massages in the expo hall on Friday August 12 and Saturday August 13. canfitpro will match all donations made to the canfitpro Outdoor Recreation Space at the Pacific Autism Family Centre (PAFC).

"We are very excited to get our members involved in making such a positive addition in the lives of individuals and families faced with ASD. The benefits of exercise are tremendous and it is our vision to empower people to lead passionate and fulfilling lives through safe, fun, and effective physical activity." Rod Macdonald, Vice President of canfitpro.
