Canoe Hires New General Manager for Revamped Classifieds Site

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 7, 2006) - The management of Canoe Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Stefan St-Laurent as General Manager, Classified Ads.

Stefan St-Laurent has more than 10 years of experience in strategic planning, marketing and business development in the automotive and online classifieds fields. In the past several years, he has been instrumental in numerous agreements and strategic partnerships with companies and organizations including the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), Ford Canada, General Motors Canada, Desjardins, Trader Canada, J.D. Powers and Metroland Printing & Publishing. Before joining Canoe, Stefan St-Laurent worked with software designer Technologies 20-20 and with Services Internet Autolinq, where he was involved in product development, including the Auto123.com car site.

The classifieds market has strong potential for Canoe, particularly since our sister company Sun Media Corporation, also a Quebecor Media subsidiary, is one of Canada's largest newspaper publishers. In his new functions, Stefan St-Laurent's mission will be to develop a new, more effective e-classifieds site that is more closely integrated with Sun Media newspapers, which are a major source of classified ads. The goal is to establish Canoe as a leader in the broader classifieds market, just as its jobboom.com, autonet.ca, reseaucontact.com and micasa.ca sites have become leaders in their advertising niches. The new version of Canoe's classifieds site should be launched soon.

"Stefan St-Laurent is joining a fast-growing team of seasoned managers," said Bruno Leclaire, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canoe. "Since the beginning of 2006, we have hired more than 110 professionals, including some 20 managers and executives, demonstrating not only our growth in the Montreal and Toronto markets but also our ability to attract top-notch professionals who are committed to improving Canoe's product line and strengthening its competitive position in the Internet services market."

Canoe's intensive recruiting drive began in May 2006 with the hiring of Patrick Lauzon as Executive Vice President. He was followed by, among others, Kevin Pepper as General Manager of Autonet.ca, Stephen Evans as Vice President, General-Interest Portals and Emerging Products, Stephane Bosse as Manager, Strategic Alliances at the Montreal office, Kirk Simpson as Manager, Strategic Alliances in Toronto, and Paula Adam as Sales Manager, also in Toronto.

A subsidiary of Quebecor Media, the Canoe Network includes content sites Canoe.ca, Canoe.qc.ca, La Toile du Quebec (toile.com), LCN (lcn.canoe.com), Canoe Money (money.canoe.com) and the TVA sites (tva.canoe.com). It attracts 6,742,000 unique visitors per month, almost half of whom are Francophone. The Canoe Network also offers on-line services in the fields of employment (jobboom.com), continuing education (formation.jobboom.com), automobiles (autonet.ca), personals (flirt.canoe.ca and reseaucontact.com) and real estate (micasa.ca). The 6,742,000 unique visitors logged in September 2006 is an all-time monthly record for the Canoe Network.
