Canoe Names Three New Executives

- New position of Vice President, Marketing filled - Head of Technology and Director of Digital Content hired

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 19, 2006) - Canoe Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Rivard as Vice President, Marketing, Cyrille Thilloy as Chief of Technology, and Dominique-Sebastien Forest as Digital Content Director.

"The position of Vice President, Marketing is being created as part of Canoe's drive to strengthen its national positioning and demonstrate leadership in the online delivery of Canadian content and services," said Bruno Leclaire, President and Chief Executive Officer of Canoe.

"Canoe has pioneered the distribution of information over the Internet in Canada and is now working hand-in-glove with Quebecor Media's other properties across Canada in a collaborative business development strategy," said Patrick Lauzon, Executive Vice President of Canoe.

In his new duties, Simon Rivard will oversee strategic branding and marketing for all Canoe content and service sites across Canada; i.e. canoe.ca, jobboom.com, micasa.ca, autonet.ca, flirt.ca and the new classifieds site. He will also be responsible for advertising and promotion, strategic alliances, communications and marketing research.

Mr. Rivard has 12 years of experience in strategic marketing, business development, product development and both conventional and interactive advertising. He is an expert in e-business and has played an instrumental role at some of Canada's most popular financial sites. Before joining Canoe, he was a partner at Wiser Interactive, where he helped develop and launch Desjardins General Insurance Group's e-business program.

Stronger technological capabilities

The addition of two technology experts to Canoe's management team will help the Company keep abreast of developments in the fast-changing hi-tech landscape. Canoe is already an industry leader in addressing the Web 2.0 challenge. "In a global competitive environment where the publication of content is evolving rapidly to meet the expectations of virtual communities, social communities and communities of interest, we must make sure we have the technological tools we need to keep our competitive edge and help promote the development of these online meeting places," said Bruno Leclaire.

"As Head of Technology, Cyrille Thilloy's mission will be to mesh the company's technological vision with its business strategy," said Bruno Leclaire. Mr. Thilloy will also be responsible for all matters related to technological development and implementation at Canoe.

Mr. Thilloy has more than 15 years of experience in IT. Before joining Canoe, he was Vice President, Technology, with Multiforce Technologies Inc., where he was responsible for the development of product and service architectures. He was previously Chief of Technology with Netergy Networks Inc., a company listed on the NASDAQ. Mr. Thilloy was also co-founder, Vice President of R&D, and Chief of Technology at U|Force. In that capacity, he conceived and developed innovative, visionary solutions for telecoms, financial service companies and government agencies.

As Director, Digital Content, Dominique-Sebastien Forest will be responsible for Canoe's digital content distribution strategy. His mission will be to implement effective video and audio platforms as new ways of accessing information proliferate. "These platforms will be key to Canoe's positioning within the Quebecor Media family since they will support access to television content generated by users and/or downloaded from Quebecor Media companies," said Patrick Lauzon.

Mr. Forest was until recently Vice President, Business Development at Puretracks, a North American leader in the development of online music platforms. He was previously a publisher with MSN Canada. Mr. Forest also founded Creative Research and Technology, Canada's first company specialized in advergaming (the use of games for advertising purposes), and has served as Marketing Manager with Insight.com.

A subsidiary of Quebecor Media, the Canoe Network includes content sites Canoe.ca, Canoe.qc.ca, La Toile du Quebec (toile.com), LCN (lcn.canoe.com), Canoe Money (money.canoe.com) and the TVA television network's sites (tva.canoe.com). It attracts 6,781,000 unique visitors per month. The Canoe Network also offers online services in the fields of employment (jobboom.com), continuing education (formation.jobboom.com), automobiles (autonet.ca), personals (flirt.canoe.ca and reseaucontact.com) and real estate (micasa.ca). The 6,781,000 unique visitors logged in November 2006 is an all-time monthly high for the Canoe Network.
