Canoe.TV: First Canadian Web Broadcaster

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 28, 2007) - Pierre Karl Peladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor Media Inc. (QMI), announces the official launch today of Canoe.TV, the first Canadian web broadcaster with unique content commissioned by Canoe.TV in addition to content from traditional sources.

"Canoe.TV positions our portal and Quebecor Media at the leading edge of the rapidly growing online video phenomenon that is being driven by strong consumer demand," Mr. Peladeau said during a presentation at a conference entitled Monetizing Digital Media. "News and sports are strong but some of the biggest growth is online viewing of entire episodes of shows developed for television or developed exclusively for online audiences."

Canoe.TV will have a wide selection of on-demand video content from partners such as the CBC, House and Home, The Fight Network and Just For Laughs with many others, including QMI's SUN TV which will contribute the Grill Room sports opinion show, SUNshine Girl TV and the Inside Jam entertainment broadcast, all produced in Toronto. Exclusively to Canadians and totally free of charge, Canoe.TV will also feature the simultaneous streaming of 5 premium international TV channels via its partnership with JumpTV.

Canoe.TV will work with many independent production companies in Canada to produce exclusive content including Outrageous Sports; StreetSeen about fashion; Wallpaper and Pimp Me Tonight in the lifestyles area; and Naughty or Nice, a reality TV production that visits a home, explores drawers and closets and comes up with a verdict: Naughty or Nice. Canoe.TV will initially finance about 50 exclusive productions. About 50 titles are available at today's launch. There will be more than 400 choices available within the next year.

"This is great news for Canadian content producers, and for audiences who will enjoy this conventional and alternative online programming," said Mr. Peladeau. Canoe.TV will share revenues with all of its content partners.

"We're becoming a more visually oriented society," said Mr. Peladeau, "and audiences appreciate being able to watch what they want, when they want and where they want, which means more and more use of mobile devices, in addition to conventional computers and traditional television."

Canoe.TV will appeal to a broad range of audiences, with programming in areas as diverse as cooking, fashion, sports, video horoscopes and lifestyles. Canoe.TV will operate in both English and in French, with distinct content for each market. The fact that Canoe.TV is totally Canadian in its conception and control will be a competitive advantage.

Canoe.TV is part of the Network, which is owned by Quebecor Media Inc., a subsidiary of Quebecor Inc.
