Canpages Selects Montreal for its Next Street Scene Shoot

Montrealers will soon be able to see and search panoramic views of the city at street level on Canpages.ca

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 27, 2009) - Canpages Inc. (www.Canpages.ca), Canada's fastest growing local search firm, announced today that it will capture images of downtown Montreal streets between August 27 and September 9, 2009 for its Street Scene online local directory search feature on Canpages.ca.

Street Scene provides 360-degree street-level views of the city for people searching for local business Canpages.ca. The technology enables users to pinpoint their search results on a map as well as see high resolution images of the results in the context of the local environment. For example, users can take a virtual "drive" down a city street to find out whether a restaurant offers parking or to see what a particular storefront looks like. Street Scene views are currently available for local businesses searches conducted in Vancouver and Whistler, BC. Canpages recently wrapped up shooting in Toronto. These images, along with images collected of Montreal streets, are expected to become available on Street Scene in the fall of 2009.

"We've had outstanding response to Street Scene functionality in Vancouver and Whistler since it launched in March of this year-and we are incredibly excited to bring this type of immersive search experience to Montreal," said Olivier Vincent, Canpages' President and CEO. "Montreal is one of Canada's most beautiful and historic cities, so in addition to enhancing Canpages.ca's local search platform, Street Scene will enable us to offer anyone with Internet access an incredibly visual experience of Montreal online."

Canpages has taken a proactive approach when it comes to ensuring security and privacy in Street Scene by blurring out all identifying information including license plates and faces as well as destroying all original captured images. In addition, Canpages has included a "report a concern" link on every image to allow users to provide feedback. These measures have earned Canpages acknowledgement from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada for the company's efforts to protect the privacy rights of Canadians.

"We encourage Montrealers to keep their eyes peeled for the car taking photos and have some fun with it," continued Vincent. "Canpages is the first to offer Street Scene in Canada and so it's a great chance for Montreal to be captured as a part of local search online."
