Cantronic: Internationally Renowned Infrared Expert Joins QWIPTECH as Chief Scientist

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 25, 2008) - Cantronic Systems Inc., ("Cantronic" or "Company") (TSX VENTURE:CTS) is pleased to announce that Dr. Sarath D. Gunapala is joining the Company's US subsidiary, QWIPTECH, as Chief Scientist (a consulting position).

Dr. Gunapala is world-renowned in the field of infrared (IR) detectors and focal plane array technology research. Dr. Gunapala has made pioneering contributions to the Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector (QWIP) technology. His patents are the foundation of QWIPTECH's unique technology. He has authored over 200 publications (61 in SPIE Digital Library), including several book chapters on QWIP imaging focal plane arrays. He has 17 U.S. patents (most of which are now owned by QWIPTECH), many provisional patent applications, and over 40 NASA New Technology Reports. He has won numerous awards - most recently the NASA Group Achievement Award for the development of Hyperspectral QWIP Imager, May 2005, as well as NASA Space Act Award, Exceptional Performance, July 2002-3-4 and January 2002. He was inducted into the United States Space Foundation Technology Hall of Fame in 2001.

In his early years, he worked at Bell Communication Research and AT&T Bell Laboratories. Currently, he is working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of California Institute of Technology (CALTECH) where he manages the Infrared Photonics Technology Group. He is also a senior research scientist and a principal engineer at NASA/JPL.
