GASPÉ, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Feb. 7, 2014) - Canada Economic Development
The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, announces that the Comité de développement local de Cap-aux-Os has been granted funding to pursue modernization of the Cap-aux-Os community centre.
This financial assistance has been awarded in the form of a $197,553 non-repayable contribution through Canada Economic Development's Community Infrastructure Improvement Fund.
- The aim of the two-phase project is to bring the Cap-aux-Os community centre into compliance with the National Building Code. Phase II of the work, valued at $436,232, consists of replacing or repairing the building's heating, ventilation, lighting and fire safety systems. The first phase of the project, being funded in part by Canada Economic Development, is still in the process of completion.
- The Cap-aux-Os community centre, better known as the Petite École de Forillon, opened its doors in 1998. Operating community gardens in the summer and an outdoor skating rink in the winter, the centre organizes an annual festival, thematic lectures, community cooking sessions and numerous other group activities for the benefit of Cap-aux-Os residents.
"By supporting this renovation project of the Comité de développement local de Cap-aux-Os, our Government is fulfilling its commitment to help improve the quality of life in our communities."
Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec
