Cape Fear Seniors on Wilmington Business RadioX Spotlights Elderhaus PACE

CEO Rick Richards Emphasizes the Importance of Individualized Care

WILMINGTON, NC--(Marketwired - October 03, 2014) - On September 18, 2014, host Tom Pechar spoke with Elderhaus CEO Rick Richards about the importance of developing a customized care plan for our elders and gracefully transitioning as needs change.

Rick Richards is the new CEO of Elderhaus PACE Wilmington, NC. He has extensive experience with community-based health care administration and development experience. Most recently, he has helped establish a start-up phase of a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in Gastonia, North Carolina.

"We run two distinct operations under the Elderhause umbrella," said Richards. "We provide all-inclusive care for those who wish to remain in their communities and also have on-site adult day services, including nutrition, social work, nursing, primary care, physical therapy, occupational therapy, transportation and activities at the site."

Based upon the successful long-term care model in San Francisco known as On Lok, PACE was developed as a special health plan for senior citizens. With age comes medical issues that require more attention and consistency of care. PACE arranges for doctors, nurses and those trained in specialized care to help with these problems. It also provides Elderhaus PACE participants with a physical location at which to receive treatment.

To hear more about Elderhaus PACE, you can listen to the entire show on Cape Fear Seniors.
