Capilano Mall Celebrates Success of 11th Annual May Is Art Month

NORTH VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 29, 2014) - Capilano Mall (935 Marine Drive, North Vancouver, BC) is wrapping up their most successful May is Art Month campaign to date. Local art, music and dance were the focus of the 11^th annual celebration of art with the in-house production of CATS kicking off the final weekend May 29^th- June 1^st 2014.

In its second year Capilano Mall's theatrical show is arguably the most popular component of the campaign. North Vancouver's take on the Broadway musical CATS produced by URP Event Production and Creative Services is the theatrical show for 2014. CATS will be performed by some of the best young talent the North Shore has to offer from Capilano University's Musical Theatre Program. Shera Allibhai, Marketing Director for Capilano Mall has had the chance to watch the show rehearsals and says she is "blown away by the young talent" and has been "absolutely mesmerized by their performance." Tickets for CATS can still be purchased by visiting www.capilanomall.com. Admission is $15 or $10 for students.

Capilano Mall's art supply donation program providing new and used art supplies and materials to artists through the North Vancouver community along with the mall's offer of two full tuition scholarships to attend the Paradise Valley Summer School of Visual Arts have attracted local artists and demonstrated the importance of community togetherness and fostering of art in young people. Photos of original artwork to be considered for the tuition can be emailed or posted online via social media and applications will be accepted until May 31^st.

May is Art Month has been a collaboration between Capilano Mall, North Vancouver Community Arts Council, Artists for Kids and URP Event Production and Creative Services.
