Capital Awards Set to Be an Evening of Fortune and Magic

2013 to be most prestigious year yet for IABC Edmonton's annual gala

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - May 21, 2013) - Next week, Mayor Stephen Mandel will join Northern Alberta's business communicators to celebrate Alberta's top echelon of communications work. On May 24, 2013, IABC Edmonton will host a magical evening for their annual Capital Awards Gala to honour the best and brightest in the field of communications.

"The Capital Awards Gala is the premier event celebrating the best in communications work in Northern Alberta," says IABC Edmonton President Justin Archer. "We see work submitted from every sector, across every discipline and from some of the region's brightest agencies. This year, top-level communicators from across Canada acted as judges. Their standards ensure that the quality of work coming out of our community is among the best in the country. Our communications professionals have a lot to celebrate."

In addition to awards in areas such as Communications & Marketing Programs & Campaigns, Special Events, Visual Communications and many more, IABC Edmonton will award three Awards of Distinction: The Capital Communicator of the Year, Communicator of the Year and Member of the Year. The Capital Communicator of the Year award goes to a senior leader in an organization who holds a non-communications position but who openly supports the importance of the role of communications in the organization's success. This year's Communicator of the Year goes to Mayor Stephen Mandel, who will be at the event to accept his award.

The 2013 Capital Awards Gala will take place in the Explorer Gallery at the Telus World of Science (11211 142 Street) on Friday, May 24. Cocktails begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by the Annual General Meeting, dinner service and lastly the awards presentation at 7:30 p.m.

This year, Hok Nik Creative, MediaCo, Lindisfarne Production, McCallum, Century Hospitality Group, Laughing Dog Photography, Mojo Photo Booth, DDB Canada, T&J Award Services, Marketwire, +Republic, and River City Events have graciously donated their time and materials to make the IABC 2013 Capital Awards Gala a success.
