Capital BlueCross Extends Contract With NaviNet to Continue Delivering Secure Customer Health Information to Network Providers

New Agreement Includes Use of NaviNet Open, an Advanced Network Technology Solution That Makes It Easier for a Health Plan to Evolve and Grow Its Products, Services

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2014) - NaviNet, Inc. and Capital BlueCross today announced that they are extending their current contract, while also implementing NaviNet Open, a new payer-provider collaboration platform. NaviNet is America's largest healthcare communications network community, serving more than 420,000 users and 39 health plans.

Capital BlueCross uses the NaviNet secure multi-payer web portal to provide key customer health information to network providers. Through this portal, providers can handle important applications or transactions to mutually support customers. For instance, Capital BlueCross can interact with providers on over 20 transactions, including checking the status on claims, and submitting and retrieving referrals and authorizations.

"Thanks to our ongoing partnership with NaviNet, Capital BlueCross is better equipped to securely and quickly place important health information right at the fingertips of the medical professionals who are providing the care to our customers," said Gary D. St. Hilaire, Capital BlueCross president and CEO. "With this information, our network providers are able to improve their services from the point of care throughout a patient's overall healthcare experience. And, with the addition of NaviNet Open, we now have a solution that enables us to evolve and tailor our value-based offerings alongside the ever-changing healthcare needs of our customers."

"As forward-looking health plans like our customer-partner Capital BlueCross enhance their provider collaboration capabilities to support new value-based reimbursement and care delivery models -- and enrich their brands with enhanced direct consumer contact -- NaviNet Open will enable them to guide the evolution of the delivery system through the dangers of shared risk and maintain a central strategic role," stated Frank Ingari, President and Chief Executive Officer, NaviNet, Inc. "Bidirectional collaboration over the NaviNet network enables shared goals and incentives to be achieved, which is critical for value-based contracts to be put in place and for accountable care to succeed."

The NaviNet Open layered architecture provides the extensibility, flexibility, and scalability necessary to accommodate change and promote growth as health plans launch new businesses and products. In addition to the base platform, NaviNet Open offers core applications, value-based network applications, configuration and administrative tools, and open APIs for easy connectivity, integration, and application development. These capabilities, which make NaviNet Open the most advanced network technology platform in healthcare today, were designed based on the best practices of the NaviNet multi-payer portal.
