Capitol Hill Hotel Raises Funds to Fight Breast Cancer

The Courtyard Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard Partners With GoPink!DC This Month

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Oct 10, 2014) - Guests of the Courtyard Washington Capitol Hill/Navy Yard look forward to contemporary style, tech-friendly features, and during October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM), the chance to make the world a breast-cancer-free place. The hotel, which is located near Nationals Stadium, is partnering with GoPink!DC to collect donations this month for the American Cancer Society in an effort to help fund cancer research and to raise awareness.

Unique among hotels near Capitol Hill, this property is enjoying its second year of partnering with GoPink!DC during NBCAM. GoPink!DC is a dragon-boat team based in The District and the first to be comprised solely of breast-cancer survivors and supporters. Members paddle together in 20-person teams and compete in races along the East Coast. GoPink!DC recently won a regional competition in Princeton, New Jersey, which earned it a place at the 4th International Breast Cancer Survivor Dragon Boat Festival in Sarasota, Florida between October 24 and 26, 2014.

The partnership between GoPink!DC and the hotel will benefit the American Cancer Society's concentrated efforts to beat breast cancer. Guests who would like to donate to the cause can do so at the front desk. Those who donate $1 or more will receive a pink breast-cancer-awareness bracelet; and those who donate $20 will receive a Washington Nationals baseball cap in honor of a great Nationals season including a run in the MLB playoffs.

The real reward, however, lies in joining the international movement that is NBCAM. Founded in 1985, NBCAM is now a collaborative partnership between national public-service organizations, medical associations and government agencies whose goal is to promote awareness and provide access to breast-cancer treatment.

Those enjoying the comfort and convenience of this premier destination among Nationals Park hotels may also find themselves witnessing the American Cancer Society Making Strides of Washington, D.C. walk. More than 2,000-walkers strong, this non-competitive, 5K walk is one more opportunity to raise awareness and funds aimed at eliminating breast cancer. However guests choose to participate in the fight against breast cancer, this Capitol Hill hotel in D.C. lets them do so easily and meaningfully.
