Carbon Design Systems Closes Seventh Consecutive Year of Growth With Record Revenue, Increased Bookings

Strong Growth in U.S., Asia Drives Success

ACTON, MA--(Marketwired - Feb 5, 2014) -  Carbon Design Systems Inc., the leading supplier of accurate virtual prototype solutions, closed 2013, its seventh consecutive year of growth, with record revenue and a 46% increase in bookings.

"2013 was another record-breaking year for Carbon," remarks Rick Lucier, its president and chief executive officer. Carbon reported strong growth in Asia and the United States as its fast, accurate virtual prototypes were used extensively last year in numerous vertical markets for the development of system-on-chip (SoC) designs.

Other factors include substantial growth at existing customers, and increased adoption by multiple new design teams enabled by Carbon Performance Analysis Kits (CPAKs), pre-built, easily extensible virtual prototypes that allow design teams to get started quickly.

Lucier foreshadows a strong 2014 as adoption of leading-edge ARM intellectual property (IP) expands beyond early-access customers. Last year, Carbon unveiled CPAKs for the ARM® Cortex®-A57 and Cortex-A53 processors, as well as CoreLink™ CCI-400 system IP. In the coming year, a number of new CPAKs will be unveiled to simplify the adoption of virtual prototypes for software optimization and performance analysis as well as firmware and driver development.

Carbon will launch later this year a series of new products currently in initial deployment as part of its strategic partnership with Samsung. A $4 million investment from Samsung in 2012 has been used for Carbon's ongoing development of leading tools focused on expanding the value of accurate virtual prototypes.
