Cardima Launches New 24-Electrode Surgical Ablation Probe and Completes First Case Series at Enloe Medical Center

FREMONT, CA.--(Marketwire - December 5, 2007) - Cardima, Inc. (OTCBB: CADM) has announced the market launch of its new 24-electrode Surgical Ablation Probe with Stabilization Sheath.

The Cardima Surgical Ablation Probes with the INTELLITEMP® Energy Management Device compose the Surgical Ablation System. The Surgical Probe is inserted by the surgeon into the patient's chest, using only a right-sided port approach for access. This is a procedure that is performed off-pump on the beating heart. The pulmonary veins are encircled on the epicardial (outer) surface of the heart. The device is stabilized to the surface and RF energy is applied to the electrode bank; and within a relatively short time, a long, continuous lesion surrounding the pulmonary veins is created. Additional lesions are created for optimal patient results.

Dr. Li Poa performed the first case series for the 24-Electrode Surgical Ablation Probe at Enloe Medical Center in Chico, California. Dr. Poa, a leader in cardiac ablation and advanced thorascopic techniques with various existing technologies, is currently Chief and Program Director of Cardiac Surgery at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut, and Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. Dr. Poa stated, "I am excited in the early usage of the probe in the endoscopic setting." Dr. Poa's first case experience with the previous Cardima Surgical Ablation Probe was earlier this year in May. That patient is in stable sinus rhythm and excellent condition.

Robert Cheney, CEO of Cardima, said that this latest product, released under the Company's existing FDA 510(k) clearance for the Surgical Ablation System, is "an important and exciting next step in Cardima's ability to address the needs of cardiac surgeons requiring cardiac tissue ablation procedures that are performed quickly, safely, and meet the demanding requirements of key opinion leaders like Dr. Li Poa. We look forward to continue our work with Dr. Poa and other leaders in the field."
