CargoSmart Commences Canada Trade Compliance Seminar Series in North America

CargoSmart Hosts Seminars to Inform Forwarders and Importers of Upcoming Canada Regulations

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2014) - CargoSmart Limited, a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) global shipping and logistics solutions provider, today announced that it is hosting a seminar series in North America to inform forwarders and importers about Canada's upcoming eManifest for Forwarders and Importer Advance Trade Data (ATD) regulations. CargoSmart will be hosting the informative seminars throughout Canada and the U.S. beginning on April 15, 2014 to help forwarders and importers prepare for the upcoming regulations. The seminars will provide an overview of the upcoming regulations, discuss the impact of the new pre-arrival data requirements, and show solutions to manage compliance. Representatives from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will also present at the seminars.

Canada's eManifest for Forwarders regulation is part of Canada's Advance Commercial Information (ACI) initiative. Forwarders in all modes of transportation will be required to submit advance electronic house bill data for cargo bound for Canada. The regulation for forwarders is expected to go into effect in July 2014. The next deployment of eManifest functionality will allow importers with cargo bound for Canada to transmit advance trade data to CBSA. Companies that do not comply may face monetary penalties.

CargoSmart offers Canada trade compliance solutions that integrate with its visibility and documentation suites for forwarders and importers to streamline their shipment management processes and submit timely, complete, and accurate advance trade data to CBSA.

"The upcoming regulations affect all forwarders that ship cargo to Canada, whether by vessel, rail, truck, or air," said Kim Le, director of CargoSmart North America. "We are pleased to offer an in-person forum for NVOs, forwarders, and shippers to learn about the impact of Canada's new regulations on their business processes and ways to enhance their processes to manage the regulations."

Free half-day seminars will be held in the following eight cities:

Richmond, BC, Canada - April 15
Torrance, CA, USA - April 16
Calgary, AB, Canada - April 17
Northlake, IL, USA - April 22
Jersey City, NJ, USA - April 24
